Is there any updated news about the proposed new Tesco's ??

The last post on the Tesco's was on 10 January 2010, as I've just read the thread again.

There hasn't been anything written since, so i'm just enquiring about any updates.

I would dearly like this build to go ahead as I can't drive and the local Sainsbury's and Coop are just too small to stock a lot of variety of things.

I also would like to know when would jobs be advertised for the new store, as I dearly would like to apply as I only live 2 minutes away on the other side of the level crossing.

Thank you

Representatives of Tesco updated Bingham Town Council on the progress of Tesco's proposal at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, 9th March 2010.

At that meeting, Tesco representatives indicated they would submit a planning application by the end of March. If planning permission is granted, they hoped to open the new store in Autumn 2012.

In response to your request I have contacted the Tesco representatives for a further update. They acknowledge that they are still working on their planning application.

If I receive any more updates, I will post another reply.

Sincerely,

Cllr. J. A. Stockwood.

what do you need that you cant get in Bingham?

are you aware that most supermarkets deliver shopping?

there is also a bus service to the bigger supermarkets!

Well for a start you cant buy any article of mens clothing or foot wear, we do need a better choice of provisions in our shops, not just have to take what little they have, still we have got plenty of shops selling houses.

Also we don't have a mobile phone shop, a music shop and like someone else said clothes shops and shoe shops.

Thank you for the update Cllr, much appreshated (spelling)

but look at the size of Bingham i really dont think we need a mobile phone shop! Most people cant buy clothing on their doorstep, it really isnt that hard to go into Nottingham twice a year or however often you do clothes shopping. I really think people would regret it if Tesco came into the town, as it will take more away than it will give :(
