Can somebody please explain why the site for the new Health Centre has to be up a hill, especially after the majority response from the consultation selected Warners Paddock - was it the threat of spoiling tactics from the group protecting the paddock which would maybe jeapordise funding? |

The Board of the Notts Primary Care Trust are meeting at Notts Cricket Ground, today, Thursday, 26th March to decide whether to accept the recommendation to pursue the Mill Hill Road site as the preferred site option for a new Health Centre in Bingham. I understand two public meetings will be arranged by the PCT, to explain the reasons for the recommendation to residents of Bingham fairly soon. |

it would seem one hoses are more important than sick and infirm and the elderly, getting up the hill to see a doc is going to be some trick,i should know, because i'm in need of a knee replacement, with out my car this hill would be a no, no. think hard on the elderly.it should be on warners paddock (field).mill hill is going to be the booby of all. |

I agree with Taff - it's going to be hard for for elderly and disabled people using wheelchairs and buggies etc to access the Mill Hill site if they haven't got cars let alone mums with kids in prams and pushchairs. Getting on and off buses is no joke. Anyway nobody has answered my question as to why the Mill Hill site was chosen. No doubt there will be a lot of acrimonious debate at the next public meeting about this matter. Is it too late - is the decision set in concrete? Lets hear from more from you disgruntled patients |

i suppose mill hill was chosen because building work is allready happening up there, it saves a lot of bother with planning etc, warners field is the right and proper place for it, but it is off the banks so money would influence would'nt it. i'll go down in bingham history as saying mill hill, tythby rd is a big fat ball's up. |

i dont think warners paddock was the right place but im not convinced mill hill is either! i still think the current site is the best place but that the whole area needs sorting out. obviously that was too big a job for the council to take on but it will all need doing eventually i dont know why they cant just do it now! |

I still think the area south of the rugby field would be a good place as it is only rough ground and a dumping place for the un delivered news papers etc, Am i right in believing that this area was originally meant to be set aside for a school ???? |

You are right Stu. Notts County Council own the scrubland next to the Rugby field down at Wynhill and originally it was allocated for a school, but there are no signs of Notts CC attempting to consider this seriously. Notts CC have also refused to discuss with others any possible alternative use of this land or even selling it. I believe Liftco (on behalf of the PCT,) approached Notts CC to explore the possibility of this site for a Health Centre but were turned down. |

I've just read that the owners of the Mill Hill site have put up the cost of the land. Is LIFTCO still trying to purchase the least popular site - they must be nuts, tell the owners to bxxxxx off. For goodness sake get a site that is suitable for the people who need and use the Health Centre the most. What do the doctors say - they have never made public their prefered site with their patients in mind. They must realise that their call outs will inevitably increase if either of the hill sites are chosen. |

It' gone very quiet on the health centre , has it been abandoned, or are they looking for a bigger hill. |
| Posted by bigead - 11:13 - 11th June 2009 |
It seems that the whole issue has died an untimely death. There has been no public utterences from any officer of the local council, LIFTCO or NHS. I guess that everything must be going on in secret behind closed doors. Don't you think our elected council would have more to say - after all why do they put themselves up for office - to represent us or for their own purposes. I think that everything is being kept quiet so as not rock the boat and jeapordise a new Health Centre - it seems that it can be built anywhere and blow the patients as long as a new one is built somewhere. Sounds like blackmail to me |

Wake up Bingham and in particular its elected and unelected representatives, ignore the Eco town, ignore Warners Paddock, ignore Tesco. The most important Community issue is the site of the Health Centre and the Community Centre. The Health Centre site has been a problem for about 10 years when excellent alternative sites were available but not taken up. Now money has been made available and we have to rush to a viable site for a building. Unfortunately, the viable site is on the highest, most southerly point of the town and without regular existing bus services. A visit to the Health Centre and a walk up and down Tythby Road hill by the PCT planners might have revealed that the users are generally old, infirm, young with pushchairs or just ill and the last thing they would want is a journey up and down Tythby Road hill. |

look's like its set in stone, and was right from the start. we know what to do come voteing time. |

Does anybody know the latest - has Mill Hill been selected? Has funding been stopped? I can't believe that something so important to all of us has been hushed up - we should be being kept informed of the progress! |
| Posted by taff - 06:42 - 12th August 2009 |
I think it will just appear over night right at the top of the hill, Its gone Verrrry quiet, too dam quiet . like on a need to know basis. we need a whistle blower. |

I have just read in the Bingham Diary that the local group comcon is up in arms about the siting of the new health centre up a hill. If they are so upset why didn't they voice their concerns publicly at a much earlier date. A lot of people believe that any hill site is not to the benefit of ill people. This non elected group claims to have the the interests of Bingham as their raison detre. Why didn't they shout louder before now. Isn't it too late - surely the decision has been made. Hey wait a minute are they muddying the water to force a decision? I believe they want a new surgery anywhere at any cost regardless of patient needs and ability to get there. |

Is this true - Press Release SITE CONFIRMED FOR NEW BINGHAM HEALTH CENTRE 18 November 2009 An agreement in principle has been made between The Crown Estate and NHS Nottinghamshire County and LiftCo over The Crown Estate owned development site on Tithby Road – for a new health centre for the town of Bingham, Nottinghamshire. Peter Jones, General Manager of LiftCo, said: “We are grateful to The Crown Estate for recognising the value of this project to the community and for making the site available to us as a consequence. We very much look forward to starting work on the new health centre in consultation with the people of Bingham.” Nick Harper, Head of Asset Management and Development at The Crown Estate said: “We will continue to work with LiftCo in order to bring forward this important and much needed community facility.” Why haven't we heard about this publicly from our elected and unelected representatives? I bet the Warners Paddock lot are laughing up their sleeves. Please tell me it can't be true - the thought of trudging up Tithby Hill appals me - no public transport agreed yet - how are we supposed to get there? |
