Other info:

Bingham Neighbourhood Watch is an award-winning scheme first established 21 years ago. The scheme is very active, has expanded considerably since those early days and now covers 40 per cent of all Bingham households. We work closely with Bingham Police, the Town Council, Hammond Harwood and SURE 24. Membership is free and the success of our scheme has been recognised by a national award and several regional awards.

Home Office statistics show that crime levels are lower in Neighbourhood Watch streets than in those that have not joined the scheme, and we are keen to increase our coverage in order to improve Bingham’s collective security. So, if your street is not already in membership, we urge you to consider joining us.

Please visit our website at www.bingham-watch.com to learn more about us, the streets that are already covered, the benefits of membership, the projects we undertake to reduce crime and the fear of crime, and the local crime data available to members. The News & Events page gives a good indication of our activities.

Given all the benefits, and because it’s FREE, there’s little point in not being in Neighbourhood Watch. All it needs is for one or more residents to volunteer to take on the role of co-ordinator, which is neither onerous nor time consuming, and we will offer support and guidance in your early months as co-ordinator. A scheme could involve, say, as few as 10 properties, but alternatively might cover up to about 70-80 properties.
To join or to seek more information, contact either PC John Kneale at Bingham Police Station (0115 940 0999 ext 6261) or e-mail Gordon Sanders, our Chairman, at gordon.sanders1931@tiscali.co.uk
